Laser Cataract Surgery

Lalin Eye offers bladeless Laser-Assisted cataract surgery using the Alcon LenSx® femtosecond laser system, designed specifically to improve the precision, safety and accuracy of cataract surgery.

The Laser Advantage

The femtosecond laser system automates certain steps of cataract surgery that were previously performed manually.  The traditional method of cataract removal involves the surgeon making manual incisions using a thin blade. While traditional cataract surgery provides excellent results, laser precision enhances our ability to offer optimal vision results. Replacing the blade with a laser allows Dr. Lalin to create the incisions using precise pulses of light. This advanced technique offers several benefits, including:

  • Faster healing
  • No need for stitches
  • Improved precision and automation
  • Reduced risk of ocular damage during surgery

What to Expect During Laser Cataract Surgery

Prior to your laser cataract surgery, Dr. Lalin will create a 3-D map of your eye and transfer this information to the femtosecond laser, which will use these precise measurements to carry out a customized treatment plan.

During your procedure, Dr. Lalin will make a circular incision to access your cloudy lens. The LenSx laser allows us to make this opening perfectly symmetrical, helping you achieve healthier, clearer vision.

Once your natural, clouded lens has been removed, an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) will be inserted to restore your vision. Dr. Lain and Dr. Shah will discuss whether femtosecond cataract surgery would benefit your procedure, and discuss what it means for your lens implant options.
